Peace is The Way Forward

Christmas is the time of year when people get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the busness and  business of the season. Shopping, baking, cooking, cleaning, wrapping, traveling, entertaining, partying, making donations, mailing parcels and decorating; all known to bring on worries and stress on occasion. Peace of mind, peace on earth, Prince of Peace are often lost in the shuffle somehow.

Christmas is a special time of year which has the capacity to send a little nudge our way, reminding us to check in and take stock of how we are doing in the ‘inner peace’ department. Are we doing ok emotionally, physicially and spiritually? It is a good time to contemplate the state of our inner world (mind, body and soul), our outer world (relationships, organizations, communities) and the big picture ‘peace on earth.’ Is there an area in our lives where we need to initiate change individually, in our relationships, communities and businesses or elsewhere in order to create a calm existence for ourselves and others?

Reflection and Contemplation

Take a few moments to reflect upon the following questions. Determine whether you need to make changes in your current reality in order to create a sense of greater inner peace.

What are my beliefs and values? Am I honouring them?

What are my plans? Do they have the capacity to bring me a greater sense of calm?

Am I honouring this season of peace? Will I be giving the gift of peace?

With whom and where will I spend my time throughout the Christmas season? Will I be receiving the gift of peace? If not, what changes do I need to make to ensure I do?

Am I conscioiulsy setting myself up to experience and enjoy quality time in each and every moment?

A Friendly Challenge

Reading is one of my favorite passtimes. Finding a quiet, relaxing space where I can comfortably curl up with a book is one luxurious pleasure. I treat it as if it is a gift I lovingly give to myself at Christmas time.  I challenge you to give yourself at least one gift of peace each and every day. You have nothing to lose and possibly a great deal to gain.

May the Christmas Spirit bless you; may you receive and give the kind of gifts fit for a Prince of Peace.
